Staff Logs

The staff logs are the server's audit trail. Every change saved in the dashboard, every staff or admin action taken with the bot's commands and every change the bot makes to your settings on its own writes one entry: who did it, what they did, to whom, when and from where.

Staff Logs: one row per action, newest first

Each row shows:

ColumnMeaning
TimestampWhen it happened, in your browser's local time.
CategoryThe part of the bot it belongs to, such as Levels or Moderation.
ActionWhat was done, such as Create Reward or Mute.
ActorWho did it, with their avatar. The bot itself carries a BOT tag.
TargetWhat it was done to, when there is one thing: a member (with their avatar), or a rule, channel, case, form, template, leaderboard or other item, with an icon for its kind. Changes to a module's settings as a whole have no target.
SourceWhere it came from: Discord, Dashboard or Automatic (see below).
SummaryA one-line description.

On a phone, each entry is a card with the same information.

Where an entry came from

SourceMeaning
DiscordA staff member used one of the bot's commands or buttons in Discord.
DashboardA staff member saved a change on the dashboard.
AutomaticThe bot changed something on its own. No staff member was involved.

Automatic entries have the bot as their actor, and their summary says what changed and why. They record, for example:

  • a setting cleared, or a rule, leaderboard, subscription or other item switched off or deleted, because the channel, category, thread or role it used was deleted in Discord, such as Removed the role from the rule "Raid lockdown" and disabled it because @Raid Watch was deleted;
  • a feed checked less often, or a leaderboard or sticky message switched off, after it kept failing or lost something it needs;
  • a problem the bot ran into while acting for you (the Bot Alerts category).

Look through them after deleting channels or roles, and pick new ones wherever a feature still needs one.

Entry details

Click a row (on a phone, View details) to open the entry.

An automatic entry: the bot disabled a rule after the role it used was deleted

The details show:

  • the summary, and for an automatic entry, a note that the bot made the change on its own and, when that was the cause, what was deleted in Discord;
  • Involved: who did it and what it was done to, with avatars, usernames and IDs. The button next to an ID copies it;
  • Entry: the category, the action with its internal name (such as disable_rule), the source, the exact time and the entry's log ID;
  • Details: exactly what was done. Creating something records every setting it was saved with (Created with), deleting something every setting it had (As it was when deleted), and an edit each setting it changed, old value, arrow, new value (larger values, such as a list of actions, as Before and After). Inside nested settings, such as a rule's conditions and actions, an edit shows only what changed there, with the item's number (#2) and type. Actions record what they did, such as a duration, a reason or a case number. Channels and roles are shown by name while they still exist.
  • A small Discord preview for an entry about a message: the message a Message Builder entry sent or edited, or the template an entry created, edited, deleted or customized, as it was saved at that moment (for a deleted one, as it was when deleted). Variables show the Message Builder's sample values. Entries logged before previews were kept show the template as it is now.

The buttons at the bottom filter the list to Only this actor, Only this action or Only this target and close the entry.

A mute: the moderator, the muted member and the case details
A template edit: the saved version, as Discord shows it

Filter the list

Above the table:

  • Search matches the summary, the action's internal name and the actor's or target's name.
  • Category, Action, Source, Actor and Target each take any number of values: click values to tick them, and click a ticked one again to drop it. The list shows entries matching any ticked value of a filter (and every filter at once). With nothing ticked, or All ticked at the top of the list, a filter shows everything. A filter with several values names the first and counts the rest (+2). Type in an open list to find a value; the Action list also finds an action by its internal name (such as xp_add).
  • Time range starts at Last 24 hours. Choose another relative range or pick exact dates.
The Source filter: tick Discord, Dashboard, Automatic or any mix

You can also click a value in the table (a category, an action, an actor, a target or a source) to show only that value. Every ticked value is listed as a chip above the table; click a chip to remove it, or click Reset filters at the end of that row to clear them all. Click a column header to sort by it, and change Per page at the bottom.

Filtering by two categories

Module Logs tabs

Most modules have a Logs tab as their last tab. It is this same list, opened with the category already set to that module.

The Logs tab of Levels shows only Levels entries

Owner-only tools (such as editing data as the bot's owner) are recorded in the owner's own logs, not in your server's.

Good to know

  • Only people who can open the dashboard (Manage Server) can read the staff logs.
  • Entries cannot be edited or deleted from the server's dashboard.
  • If a member deletes their account, entries that name them as the target keep the action but lose the name. Entries that record actions a staff member took are kept.
  • An actor or target the bot no longer knows (someone who left and was never cached) is shown with the name stored in the entry and Discord's default avatar.
