Analytics - Activity Roles

An activity role rule keeps a score for every member. Activity earns points by the weights you choose, the score shrinks over time, and the bot gives the rule's role when the score reaches the Grant Threshold and takes it away when the score falls below the Removal Floor.

Editing an activity rule

Creating a rule

  1. Open Analytics > Activity Roles and click Add Rule.
  2. Fill in the rule:
FieldWhat it does
Rule NameShown in commands and the dashboard, for example "Active Member"
RoleThe role the rule gives and removes. It must be below the bot's highest role
Grant ThresholdThe score at which a member gets the role
Removal FloorThe score below which a member loses it. Keep it lower than the grant threshold so the role does not flicker on and off
Point CeilingThe most points a member can hold. Empty means no limit
Decay Amount and Decay EveryHow many points every member loses per interval (hours, days, weeks or months)
  1. Under Metric Weights, give points to the kinds of activity that should count:
ActivityPoints per
MessagesMessage sent
ReactionsReaction added
Voice Chat TimeHour in voice, counted in fractions (4 points per hour is 1 point per 15 minutes)
CommandsBot command used
Emoji UsesEmoji used in a message
Threads CreatedThread started
Successful InvitesMember who joined through their invite

A weight of 0 ignores that activity. How Often To Count limits how often an activity can add points, for example once per minute for messages, so spamming does not farm points. Leave it at 0 to count everything.

  1. Click Save Rule.

Points come from activity after the rule exists; the bot does not score past activity. When you change a rule's thresholds or role, the bot rechecks every member's role right away. Deleting a rule deletes its scores and removes its role from everyone who has it.

How scores change

  • Activity arrives in small batches, so a score and role update a few seconds after the activity.
  • Decay runs every hour and whenever a member earns points.
  • Activity the server's Privacy settings exclude, and activity by members who opted out, earns no points.
  • Several rules can give the same role; a member keeps it while any of those rules still qualifies them.
  • The Automations action Adjust the member's activity rule score can add, subtract, set or reset points, and the conditions Activity rule score is at least / is below read a score.

Checking scores

  • /activity rules lists the rules.
  • /activity view rule: member: shows one member's score for one rule, /activity summary for every rule.
  • /activity top rule: ranks members by one rule.
  • Admins reset one member with /activity reset or a whole rule with /activity reset-all.

See Commands for the options.

Example

"Active Member": Grant Threshold 200, Removal Floor 120, Point Ceiling 500, decay 15 per day, messages 2 points (at most once per minute), reactions 1 point (at most once per 10 minutes), voice 3 points per hour. A member chatting steadily for a few days earns the role and keeps it while they stay around. A member at 200 points who goes quiet falls below 120 after five and a half days and loses the role.
