Analytics - Privacy
The bot stores activity analytics: that something happened, when, and where (a message was sent in a channel, a reaction added, someone joined voice). It never stores message content or members' online status. This data powers the Analytics commands, activity roles, leaderboards and the dashboard's charts.
It is collected in every server the bot is in, whether or not the Analytics module is on. Three things control it: the server's exclusions on this page, each member's own opt-out, and the anonymization window.
Server exclusions
Open Analytics > Privacy:
- All activity analytics is the master switch for the server. Turn it off to stop storing any per-member activity analytics here.
- Each metric has its own switch, grouped under Messages, Reactions, Emoji usage, Voice, Member events, Threads, Invites, Scheduled events, Commands and Polls. The line under each says what is recorded, for example "When a member sends a message (channel + timestamp). Never the message text."
- Expand a metric to exclude channels, categories, roles or users from it; the metric shows how many exclusions it has. "Used for" says what the metric powers.
Everything is tracked by default. Changes apply from the next event on.
Member opt-out
Any member can opt out of activity analytics on their account Settings page (in the user menu), under Privacy & Tracking. The opt-out covers every server the bot is in and takes effect immediately. The same section lets them delete the activity analytics already stored about them, and Your Data on that page downloads a copy of their data.
What exclusions and opt-outs do
Excluded and opted-out activity is still counted in server totals, such as messages per day or voice hours per channel, but it is stored without the member. As a result the member:
- earns no activity role points from it;
- does not appear in
/analytics top, scheduled leaderboards or/analytics userfor it.
Rankings also leave out members who have left the server.
Anonymization
Activity is attributable to a member for a limited time only: 30 days by default (the bot's host sets it with anonymize_after_days). After that, the bot removes the member from the record and keeps only the totals. As a result, member rankings and member statistics only ever cover the last 30 days, even when you pick a 90-day range; the bot adds "Member rankings cover the last 30 days" under such a ranking.
Server-wide totals are kept past the window (unless the host also set a retention limit that deletes old data), so /analytics server and the dashboard's charts can still show long-term trends.
What is not affected
These settings cover stored analytics only. Things the bot posts to your channels as they happen, such as Mod Logs entries for edits and deletes or join and leave messages, and real-time features such as AutoMod and anti-spam, are not affected. Moderation cases are records of staff actions and are kept separately.
