Triggers
A sticky is re-posted when a member sends a message in its channel and the sticky's conditions are met. The bot only checks when a message arrives: a sticky never re-posts in a quiet channel, however much time passes.
What counts as a message
Every message a member posts in the sticky's channel counts toward Minimum Messages. Messages from bots and webhooks (including the sticky itself) do not count, and neither do messages in threads of the channel. The count starts again from zero each time the sticky is posted.
The conditions
| Setting | Default | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum Messages | 1 | At least this many member messages since the last post |
| Minimum Time | Off | At least this long since the last post. Click Enable to set a duration, Disable to remove it. |
| Trigger Mode | AND | Shown only while Minimum Time is enabled |
With only Minimum Messages set, the sticky is re-posted after that many messages. At the default of 1, that is after every message, which is too much for most channels.
With Minimum Time enabled, Trigger Mode decides how the two combine:
- AND: both must be met. "Both message count AND time must be satisfied."
- OR: either one is enough. "Either message count OR time is enough to trigger."
OR mode needs a Minimum Time, so disabling Minimum Time switches the sticky back to AND.
Examples
| Goal | Settings | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Quiet channel, always visible | Minimum Messages 1 | Re-posts after every message |
| Busy chat, calm re-posting | Minimum Messages 15, Minimum Time 5 minutes, AND | Re-posts at most every 5 minutes, and only after 15 messages |
| Slow channel that should not lose it | Minimum Messages 20, Minimum Time 30 minutes, OR | Re-posts after 20 messages, or on the first message once 30 minutes have passed |
Burst protection
When many messages arrive at once, only one re-post runs at a time per channel, so a burst never posts the sticky twice.
