Webhook Mode

By default a sticky is posted by the bot. In webhook mode it is posted through a Discord webhook in the channel, so it can show a different name and avatar, such as "Server Staff". The message itself is the same.

Edit Sticky Message in webhook mode: the Webhook picker and the name and avatar overrides

Set it up

  1. Add or edit a sticky and set Send Mode to Webhook. A Webhook Settings box appears.
  2. Webhook: pick one of the channel's existing webhooks, or leave it on Auto-create to let the bot use its own webhook in the channel (it creates one if it has none). The choice is saved after the first post.
  3. Display Name Override (optional, up to 80 characters): the name shown on the sticky. Blank uses the template's name, or the webhook's own name.
  4. Avatar (optional): this sticky's Icon (in place of the pin) and Ring colour (the server's accent, or the color of the sticky's message). Server default uses the Sticky Messages defaults in Settings > Webhook Avatars.
  5. Avatar Override (optional): an image URL, or Browse to pick one from your media library. It replaces the whole avatar. Blank uses the template's avatar, or the webhook's own.
  6. Click Save.

Webhook URLs are never shown in the dashboard: existing webhooks are listed by name. Changing the sticky's channel is not possible, so a webhook always belongs to the sticky's channel.

Note

The bot needs Manage Webhooks in the channel to find or create a webhook.

The webhook's avatar

A webhook the bot creates gets a pin icon as its avatar, ringed in the server's accent color, with the bot's avatar in a corner. Change the icon or ring for every sticky in Settings > Webhook Avatars, or for one sticky under Avatar. A sticky whose avatar differs from its webhook's needs the dashboard's public_url to be an https:// address, since Discord loads that image from the dashboard. A webhook you gave your own avatar in Discord keeps it.

If the webhook is deleted

If the webhook a sticky uses is deleted from Discord, the next post switches to the bot's own webhook in that channel (creating one if needed) and saves it on the sticky. This happens even when you picked the webhook yourself, so the sticky keeps working. Pick another webhook in the sticky's settings if you want a different one.

Switch back to bot mode

Set Send Mode back to Bot and save. The sticky is posted by the bot from then on, and the saved webhook is forgotten after the next post. A webhook the bot created stays in the channel's Integrations until someone removes it.
