Messages
Welcomer sends three messages, each a system template you can change.
| Message | Template | Sent | Needs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Join Message | Welcome Message (welcomer.join) | In the Join Channel when a member joins | A Join Channel |
| Welcome DM Message | Welcome DM (welcomer.join_dm) | By DM to the member who joined | Welcome DM on |
| Leave Message | Goodbye Message (welcomer.leave) | In the Leave Channel when a member leaves, is kicked or is banned | A Leave Channel |
All three need the module switch to be on. Bots that join or leave get the messages too.
The defaults
Change a message
- On Welcomer > Settings, click Edit group next to the message.
- The Template Group dialog opens. Click the pencil button on a template to edit it in the Message Builder. Add more templates to the group to vary the message, and choose how one is picked each time (for example at random or in turn).
- Save. The next join or leave uses it.
Useful variables
{member.mention}pings the member;{member.display_name}names them without a ping.{user.join_position}(Join Message and DM) is the member's number: the server's member count right after they joined.{join_image}(Join Message only) attaches the welcome card;{leave_image}(Leave Message only) attaches the goodbye card. Use them as an image URL, for example in a media gallery. See Welcome Images.{joined.at}(Leave Message only) shows when the member joined, as a relative Discord timestamp such as "3 months ago".
The full list is on Variables.
The welcome DM
The DM is sent only to members who accept direct messages from server members. If a member has DMs closed, the bot skips it quietly; the join message and roles are not affected. The DM has no image card.
