Set up Welcomer

The first time you open it

The first time anyone opens Welcomer for your server, the bot creates its settings with the module turned off, and adds a ready-made Default Welcome Card and Default Goodbye Card to the Image Builder. Nothing is posted until you turn the module on. If you later delete one of these cards, it is not brought back.

Steps

  1. Open Welcomer.
  2. Pick the Join Channel, where welcome messages are posted. Choose None (no message) to skip the join message.
  3. Pick the Leave Channel, where goodbye messages are posted. Choose None (no message) to skip the leave message.
  4. Optional: turn on Welcome DM to message new members privately.
  5. Optional: pick roles under Auto-assign Roles. See Auto-roles.
  6. Click Save Changes in the bar at the bottom of the page.
  7. Turn on the switch at the top right of the panel. It saves at once.
Welcomer settings with a join channel, a leave channel, the welcome DM on and one auto-assigned role

The default messages are text only. To add the welcome card, put the {join_image} variable into the Join Message (for example as a media gallery image in the Message Builder); the goodbye card works the same way with {leave_image} in the Leave Message. Click Edit group next to a message to change it, and Configure next to an image to change the card. See Messages and Welcome Images.

Note

The bot needs View Channel, Send Messages and Attach Files in the join and leave channels (the image card is sent as an attachment), and Manage Roles for auto-assigned roles, with its highest role above them.

Every saved change is recorded on the Logs tab.
