Leaderboards

Levels ranks members in two places: the /leaderboard command in Discord and a public page on the web. Both can rank by Combined, Text or Voice XP, and both leave out members with no XP on that board.

/leaderboard in Discord

/leaderboard posts the board in the channel for everyone to see. The optional type option picks the board to start on (Combined by default), and global:true starts on the global board instead.

  • Each page lists 10 members with their level and XP. The top three get medals.
  • A line under the list shows the rank and XP of the member who ran the command.
  • Prev and Next page through the board, up to page 100 (the top 1,000 members). The web page covers the rest.
  • The Combined, Text and Voice buttons switch boards, and Global switches to the global board.
  • When anyone other than the member who ran the command presses a button, they get their own private copy, so nobody can page someone else's message.
  • The buttons keep working after the bot restarts.
  • A Full leaderboard button links to the web page when your bot has a public dashboard address and the board is public.

The global board

The global board ranks everyone's global XP: one combined counter across every server that uses this bot. It is headed by the bot's name and avatar instead of your server's, lists each user by the name Discord shows everywhere (never a server nickname), and its bottom line shows your global rank, the same number as /rank global:true. It has no web page. The Combined, Text and Voice buttons go back to your server's board.

Like the rest of /leaderboard, it is only available while Levels and the /leaderboard command are turned on in your server.

The public web leaderboard

Every server with Levels turned on has a public leaderboard page at the dashboard address followed by the server's vanity name or ID, for example https://your-dashboard/<vanity>. Anyone with the link can open it without logging in. Set a vanity name under Settings > Server Vanity URL to get a short, readable link.

The public web leaderboard with the How to Earn XP and Role Rewards cards

The page shows:

  • Combined, Text and Voice tabs. Each row shows the member's rank, level, progress to the next level and XP, plus their message count (or, on the Voice tab, their time in voice). More rows load as you scroll.
  • How to Earn XP: your text and voice XP ranges, the cooldown and, when it is not 1x, the multiplier.
  • Role Rewards: every reward track with its XP type, required role, rewards and how many members hold each reward role.

Note

The page is public whenever Levels is turned on. There is no separate switch for it: turn Levels off to take the page down. Analytics opt-outs do not apply to Levels XP.

Share image

When someone pastes a leaderboard link into Discord or another app, the preview shows a share image with the server's name and its top five members on that board. Members who left the server are never in the share image. The image is refreshed at most every ten minutes.

Hide members who left

Hide members who left under Leaderboard in Levels > Settings is on by default. While it is on:

  • members who left are hidden from /leaderboard, the web page and rank numbers in /rank and /profile,
  • server managers who are logged in to the dashboard get a Current members / All members switch on the web page to see everyone.

Turn it off to keep members who left on every board. Their XP is kept either way, so it comes back if they rejoin.
