Reward Tracks

A reward track is a list of level milestones, each linked to a role. When a member reaches a milestone, the bot gives them the role. A server can have up to 10 tracks, and each works on its own.

Reward Tracks: a combined-XP rank track and a voice track that stacks and needs a role

Create a track

  1. Open Reward Tracks and click Add Track.
  2. Fill in the New Reward Track dialog:
    • Track name (up to 100 characters).
    • Required role (optional): members must have this role to earn anything on the track. Leave it at No requirement for everyone.
    • Stack roles (keep all earned rewards): see Stack or replace.
    • XP type: which XP the track counts. See XP type.
  3. Click Save.
  4. In the new track, click Add reward, set Level required (1 or higher) and Role to assign, and click Save. Repeat for each milestone.
  5. If members already have XP, run /xp sync_roles so everyone who already qualifies gets their roles. See Existing members.
A new track: its name, who can earn it, stacking and the XP it counts
  1. Track name, up to 100 characters.
  2. Required role: only members with this role earn the track's rewards. Leave it at No requirement for everyone.
  3. Stack roles and XP type: whether members keep every reward or only the highest, and which XP the track counts.

Each track needs its own combination of XP type and required role: a second track with the same pair is refused. Use the pencil and bin buttons on a track or reward to edit or delete it.

Stack or replace

  • Stack roles on: members keep every reward they have reached. Reaching level 10 and then level 20 leaves them with both roles. The track shows a Stacking badge.
  • Stack roles off (replace): members hold only the highest reward they have reached on this track. Reaching level 20 removes the level 10 role. Use this for rank roles such as Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Either way, a reward above the member's current level is removed. When two tracks disagree about the same role, giving the role wins.

XP type

XP typeThe track counts
Combined (text + voice)The member's level from text + voice XP (the level everyone sees)
Text XPThe level the member's text XP alone would give
Voice XPThe level the member's voice XP alone would give

A voice-only track is a good way to reward regulars in voice chat without chat XP helping them along.

Required role

A track with a required role only applies to members who hold that role. A member without it gets none of the track's rewards, and the bot removes any of the track's reward roles they still have the next time their rewards are checked. This suits opt-in or supporter-only tracks.

When rewards are checked

The bot checks a member's reward roles:

  • when their combined level goes up (a level-up from text or voice),
  • when an admin changes their XP with /xp add, /xp remove or /xp reset,
  • when an admin runs /xp sync_roles.

Existing members

Creating a track or adding a reward does not hand out roles to members who already qualify. Nothing is applied until one of the checks above runs. To apply a new or changed track to everyone at once, run /xp sync_roles (admins only, no options). It goes through every member with Levels XP in this server, gives the rewards they qualify for, removes the ones they no longer qualify for, and replies with how many members it processed and updated. Members who left and bots are skipped, and roles the bot cannot manage are left as they are.

Note

A text or voice track only changes on those checks too. A member whose text XP passes a milestone without a combined level-up gets that reward at their next level-up or the next /xp sync_roles.

Examples

Rank roles (replace): one track, Stack roles off, XP type Combined.

LevelRole
5@Member
15@Regular
30@Veteran

Members hold one of these at a time.

Perks (stack): one track, Stack roles on.

LevelRole
10@Lounge Access
25@Image Perms
50@Custom Color

Members collect each perk as they level up.

Show rewards to members

The public leaderboard lists every track with its rewards and how many members hold each role, so members can see what they are working towards.
